My dear Theo, Thanks for your letter, I was glad to hear that you got back safely. I missed you the first few days, and it was strange for me not to find you when I came home in the afternoon. We spent some pleasant days together, and actually did go for some walks and see a thing or two whenever we had the chance. What terrible weather, you must feel anxious on your walks to Oisterwijk. Yesterday there were trotting races on the occasion of the exhibition, but the illumination and fireworks were postponed because of the bad weather, so it’s just as well you didn’t stay to see them. 내 동생 테오에게 편지 고마워. 네가 잘 돌아갔다는 소식을 들어 기뻐. 네가 떠나고 며칠 동안 많이 그리웠고, 오후에 집에 돌아왔을 때 네가 없는 게 이상했어. 우리는 함께 즐겁게 지냈더라. 산책도 하고 기회가 있을 때마다 뭔가를 보러 다니기도 하고. 날씨는 끔찍하게 나빴지. 네가 Oisterwijk까지 걷는 걸 끔찍하다고 느낄 것 같아. [너는 여기에서 학교까지 다녔으니 얼마나 힘들었을지...] 어제 박람회에서 경마 대회가 있었지만, 불빛 축제와 불꽃놀이는 날씨 때문에 연기됐어. 그걸 보려 머물렀으면 허탕을 칠 뻔 했지 뭐야. Haanebeek 가족과 Roos 가족이 안부를 전하더구나. 언제나처럼, 사랑하는 형 빈센트 |
